AI clipping statistics 2026

ClipSpeedAI Updated Data: Jul 28 – Oct 26, 2026

We looked at every video clipped on ClipSpeed over 90 days: 2,100 videos, 32,306 minutes of source footage and 24,643 finished clips. These are the numbers behind how long a short-form clip should be, how many clips a video gives you, how long AI clipping takes, which captions creators keep and what AI video costs per model. How long is an AI-made short clip?

The median clip is 30.5 seconds long, and 85% of clips run 20 to 40 seconds. The middle half of all clips sits between 27.2 and 34.6 seconds. Very short clips are rare (3.8% under 20 seconds) and so are long ones (1.5% over a minute). Thirty seconds fits one complete moment, a setup and a payoff, and keeps a viewer to the end on TikTok, Reels and Shorts.

How many clips do you get from one video?

A median of 8.6 clips per 10 minutes of source video. The middle half of videos gave between 6.1 and 10.8 clips per 10 minutes. Longer videos give more clips, but not proportionally, because the AI keeps only the moments that stand on their own.

How long does AI clipping take?

From submitting a video to every clip being ready took a median of 23 minutes, about 1.6 minutes for each minute of source video. A quarter of videos took longer than 39 minutes. That time covers the whole job: downloading the video, transcribing it, finding the moments, cutting and reframing each clip to 9:16 and burning in captions. Clips appear one by one as they finish, so the first ones are ready well before the last.

Which caption styles do creators keep?

84% of projects kept word-by-word karaoke captions, where each word lights up as it is spoken. 92% of all clips went out with captions burned in.

All ClipSpeed clipping projects submitted from July 28 to October 26, 2026, excluding internal and test accounts: 2,732 submitted, of which the 2,100 that finished with at least one clip are counted here. Clip-level figures (length, category, emotion, captions) come from a sample of 14,000 clips from those projects. Times are measured from submission to the project’s completion. No personal data, video titles or links were used; every figure is an aggregate. Credit prices are ClipSpeed’s published prices on October 26, 2026.
